STAT is proud to congratulate the excellent Texas educators recognized by the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) as recipients of its 2023 NSTA Awards program. In fact, STAT is thrilled to share that George Hademenos, 2016–2017 STAT President and physics teacher in Richardson ISD, has been named recipient of the 2023 NSTA/Northrup Grumman Excellence in Engineering Education Award.
Additional Texas educators recognized include recipients of the Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge:
- Grand-Prize Winner (Elementary School Level): Arianna Martinez Moody, Harvey Brown Elementary School, Houston, Texas
- Grand-Prize Winner (Middle School Level): Jeffrey Gale, Fairmont Junior High School, Pasadena, Texas
Several Texas educators were also named recipients of the Shell Urban Science Educator Award:
- Sharon Delesbore, Dean of Instruction P-Tech Health Science Program, Hightower High School, Missouri City, Texas
- Richard Embrick, STEM Teacher, David Crockett Middle School, Richmond, Texas
- Maritha Green, STEM/Biology Teacher, Whidby Elementary School, Houston, Texas
Hademenos and the other Texas science educators were recognized during the NSTA National Conference on Science Education in Atlanta last week.
