HOUSING INFORMATION

Please note that if you have booked at the Sheraton Downtown Dallas the rate has increased from $117 to $123 for the CAST rate.  Our hotel rates for CAST were based on the state rate for Dallas, which unfortunately increased in October.  As it stands, all hotel rooms regardless of being booked prior to the formal rate change in Dallas will be billed at $123.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Please alert your schools.

All CAST hotels are past the housing cut-off date, which means if you have not yet booked your room you may not be able to receive the CAST attendee rate anymore.

The Aloft is in walking distance and both the Sheraton and Marriott will have shuttle transportation to and from the convention center- all shuttles will depart from the Sheraton at curbside on Olive Street outside of the restaurant entrance.

Attendees who book through the STAT housing site will:

• Be guaranteed that their hotel will be on the CAST 2011 hotel shuttle route.
• Receive lower rates though STAT's block of rooms.
• Official CAST hotels have been inspected by staff prior to booking- we only book with hotels we have reviewed.
• Will be giving back to CAST- future hotel contract negotiations depend on the size of our block.  CAST is able to keep rates low if more attendees book within our designated hotels.
• Booking within our CAST-approved hotels means you’ll have transportation directly from your hotel to the convention center (no driving around for parking!).

PARKING

The daily parking rate at the Dallas Convention Center is $12/day.  Surrounding parking lots which are unaffiliated with the convention center range from $10-$12/day.  NEW:  A shuttle service will be running from Lot E parking lot to the entrance at lower C which will run continuously from 6:30am to 7:30pm during event dates.  In addition there will be 500 spaces at the Omni hotel dedicated to Science Teachers for the duration of the show and the pricing is the same as we offer at the convention center of $12.00.

We encourage attendees to use Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), as it stops at the convention center and parking in the city may be difficult.  Those staying in the host hotel (Sheraton Dallas) will have access to free CAST shuttles to and from the Dallas Convention Center.
