High School Biology Teachers' Attitudes Towards Teaching Biology National Survey
Dear High School Biology Teacher,
My name is Richard Howarth and I would like to ask for your participation in a national research study. I am a fellow high school biology teacher with over 16 years experience and a doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Graduate School of Education. For my dissertation, I am doing a study that compares teacher attitudes towards the teaching of different biology topics. I hope you will participate by completing an online survey, which consists of 29 questions pertaining to your thoughts on different biology topics, 18 demographic questions, and 1 open-ended question. The survey will take about 10 minutes and is completely anonymous for you.
As an incentive, I am offering you the chance to enter into a drawing for a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card. After completing the survey you can provide an e-mail to participate in the drawing. Should you decide to share your email address; the information will be kept strictly confidential. Your participation and support of this study is greatly appreciated. When the study is complete, I will be happy to share my findings with you. If possible, please forward this letter to other biology teachers you know so that they might also have the opportunity to participate. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or my advisor, Dr. David Lustick.
