This is a searchable encyclopedia with lots of photos, descriptions, and even sound recordings of various species. It is easy to navigate. Web Site from Virginia Malone

This site from Jefferson County Schools provides a variety of downloadable, customizable game formats for use in classrooms including Jeopardy, Who Wants to be Millionaire?, Twenty Questions, and Weakest Link.

BOYZ IN THE POND
This site from E-Nature is a fun, froggy quartet sung in acapella. Click on the real thing to hear real frog sounds. The frog is pictured and information provided. This might be used as a good introduction to frogs as indicator species.

Discovery Channel Online:  This sitee offers teacher lesson plans that tie to specific shows, a store with videos of Discovery shows, and an opportunity to subscribe to a mail list that will send you a weekly e-mail abut upcoming shows.

Botanical Research Institute of Texas: This sitee is a great resource for teachers of Texas that enjoy bringing plants into their classrooms. Educator Programs are listed under Education.

Cells alive: This site contains a wealth of visual information on cells. The vocabulary may be too elevated for elementary students, but the graphics are great.

Public Service Television: PBS offers teachers many different sources of programs that can enhance the curriculum. Newton's apple and Nova are only two examples of programs that can be used in the classroom.

Bad Science: Visit this site to better understand some common misconceptions in science.

Astronomy Picture of the Day: Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer. The photos are downloadable and can be printed for bulletin boards or for rewards for students.

National Energy Foundation: Teachers can find downloadable learning activities, free materials, information about workshops, contests, and other NEF programs, as well as an online catalog of science-focused instructional materials primarily for elementary and middle school teachers.
