Donald W. Olson, Ph.D.
From Van Gogh's Starry Nights to Lincoln's Moon and Shakespeare's Stars: Astronomy in Art, History and Literature

Dr. Donald W. Olson received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975. After research positions at the University of Texas, Austin and at Cornell University he joined the faculty at Texas State University in 1981. Dr. Olson has been the recipient of numerous awards for teaching and research, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Research at Texas State. His research interests are broad, ranging from general relativity to moon bows (rainbows created by moonlight). Much of his latest work has concentrated on applying astronomy to topics in art, history, and literature resulting in more than 30 published articles.
