The UT Homework Service has changed its policy with respect to creating courses for teacher use with students. Because of student intrusion into the faculty side of the service, UT is asking prospective users to mail or fax a xeroxed copy of a faculty ID, a paycheck stub (with the social security number, pay, and any other information you don't want to share covered up), a school web site, and the unique number you created for the course or courses. When you attempt to create a class and press the "OK" button, a "success" form will appear that has a form that can be printed and completed and submitted with the appropriate documentation that you are a teacher. The lady who is responsible for verifying that you are a teacher is Patsy McDonald. If Patsy can verify an e-mail address from a school web site, she will e-mail you the password information you need to use the course you created in the UT Homework system. If she cannot verify an e-mail address, she will mail the password information to the department chairperson at the school. Patsy cannot accept generic e-mail addresses like hotmail or yahoo and because some schools provide e-mail accounts to students, she cannot just accept a school e-mail address without verification. Patsy is really good about responding to the inquiries quickly. Teachers who used the UT Homework system last school year may not have any trouble creating classes (I had no trouble creating classes in the system).
